How This Calculator Works
This tool divides your total fence length by your chosen panel width to work out how many full bays fit, then rounds up so your fence line is always fully covered. Posts are calculated as one more than the number of bays, since every fence needs a post at each end as well as between every panel. If you tell us your fence includes a gate, we add one extra post to account for the heavier-duty gate post. - Posts = number of bays + 1 (plus 1 more if you have a gate)
- Panels = number of bays (one panel per bay)
- Gravel boards = number of bays × boards per bay
